Public school districts are waiting to hear about certified enrollment numbers as they begin the process of projecting their next budget.

In Iowa, public schools receive state funding on a per-pupil basis. Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling tells KNIA/KRLS News that based on recent head counts throughout the district, they are projecting steady enrollment. He says despite a large outgoing senior class, numerous open enrollees and move-ins have offset the loss in the students.

School districts will certify their enrollment numbers at their meetings in October.
