The Parents as Teachers Program from the Marion County Public Health Department, sponsored by Early Child Iowa (ECI), will be holding a community family event titled “Roll and Read.”

The event will take place Saturday from noon until 2 p.m., at the Marion County Park in Knoxville. Families are invited to walk, bike, skate, push a stroller or wagon around a one mile loop to support family physical well-being, family togetherness and literacy. Stops along the way will feature reading stations, booths and presentations. The event is open to families and children of all ages, not just those enrolled in the Parents as Teachers Program.

The following options are available for involvement:

Sponsorship level 1: Is a commitment of a space at the event, where your non-profit business or organization can advertise, engage and support families with your services. You also commit to providing a literacy based activity for children and families at your booth.

Sponsorship level 2: Is for-profit businesses that wish to participate. Your fee is a donation of a product or books to be given away at the event. We anticipate about 50 children and their families to attend the event. You will also get a space to advertise your business and engage families in your services.

Sponsorship level 3: Is a donation of time to volunteer to set up, monitor event cleanliness and clean up (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Honor Society or those needing volunteer hours are welcome, and letters will be available for you to take that day).

Roll and Read is designed to be educational and full of fun for families with children of all ages. With your participation, we plan to have a wide range of activities and engaging things for participants to do.

Please consider becoming a sponsor for our local event on September 23, 2017. For any questions please call Parents as Teachers at 641-828-2238 ext. 223.
