Illinois College comes into Indianola this afternoon as non-conference play concludes for Simpson College. Both schools are fresh off a loss in their Week 1 contests; the Blueboys lost 33 – 32 to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the Storm were shutout by Wisconsin-Stout, 17 – 0. Illinois is a mostly passing team, as they threw the ball 60 times in last week’s defeat for 353 yards and three touchdowns, while only gaining 40 yards on 32 attempts on the ground. The Blueboys’ defense created four turnovers via interceptions, but still couldn’t pull off the win.
Simpson will try to be less sloppy on both sides of the ball today; the team committed eight penalties for 76 yards, and the offense also lost two fumbles.
Someone’s going to win their first game of the 2017 season, and you can find out who live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA and via our free KNIA mobile app with Cory Houser and Rick Wilson on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 12:35 with kickoff slated for 1:00.
