Traffic Stop Leads to Chariton Woman being Arrested on Multiple Drug Related Charges

A Chariton woman was arrested Tuesday on multiple drug related charges following a traffic stop south of Knoxville.

Courtney Thompson, 32, was pulled over for speeding. Thompson told officers she did not have a valid license or insurance. The vehicle was impounded and upon inventory of the vehicle, officers located several bags filled with crystal-like substances, multiple clear bags, a digital scale with crystal-like residue, a green leafy substance, 18 white pills, glass pipes and syringes.

The crystal substance was tested and indicated a positive result for methamphetamine and the green leafy substance tested positive for THC. In total, 56 grams or 2 ounces of methamphetamine was located in Thompson’s vehicle. At the time of the traffic stop, minor children were in the vehicle. Thompson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, failure to affix drug tax stamp, a class D felony, failure to provide proof of financial liability, possession of drug paraphernalia, child endangerment, speeding and driving under suspension.
