The top two teams in last year’s Little Hawkeye Conference volleyball standings go head-to-head tonight in an early season showdown.

Last year, Pella beat Pella Christian en route to an undefeated LHC championship, while the Eagles finished second.

Lady Dutch coach Catie Brand is expecting a hard fought match tonight.

“I know that they’re tall. I know they’re in a similar boat that they have some experience but a lot of new players to the court. I think that battle of juniors and varsity inexperience could be really interesting. We know it’s going to be a good game. Any time we match up with PC both sides want it a little more than other times – and we’ll be ready.”

On the other side, Pella Christian coach John Evenhouse knows that his team has its work cut out for them tonight.

“They’re really good. They pass the ball and they have a couple of great hitters. We have to be sharp. If we’re sharp, I think we can give them a game. But if we’re not sharp we’re going to be in trouble. They’re a very good ball club and we’ll try to be ready for them.”

Tonight’s Tulip City volleyball match takes place at Pella Christian High School. Varsity is expected to start at 7:15.
