Sacred Heart Church Fall Dinner

The Sacred Heart Church will hold their fall dinner on Sunday October 29th from 11:00am-1:30pm. The menu will consist of roasted turkey, baked ham, noodles, dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and more. Cost is $10 for adults, kids 5-10 years old are $5 and under 4 are free. Carry outs will be available.

Funeral services for Opal Benson age 91 of Oskaloosa will be Friday at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in the Forest City Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be Thursday after 9am at the funeral chapel with family present from 6-8pm.

Funeral services for Timothy P. Brackin age 53, of Knoxville will be Friday, October 27th at 11:00 am Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. Visitation will begin Thursday after 1:00 pm at at the church with the family present from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for the Pella Shooting Club, Trinity Reformed Church for youth ministry, or University of Iowa Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.

Missed Extra Point in OT Leads to Simpson Loss at Dubuque

Trailing by 14 points at two separate points in the game, the Simpson Storm football team came roaring back and scored with 1:12 left in the game to force overtime at Dubuque, but a missed extra point in OT would be the difference as the Storm fell to the Spartans 28-27.
