A 1pm kickoff was delayed until 7:30 due to lightning, and the Simpson Storm Football Team showed just as much flash in a 38-17 thrashing of Luther in their homecoming game on Saturday.

Starting their third string quarterback, sophomore Tanner Jansen, the Storm scored on their first two drives using a strong rushing attack from Cam Bunting to take a 10-0 lead, and the defense stifled the triple-option Norse attack to garner a 10-3 lead at halftime. The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, before an explosion of scoring in the fourth for the Storm. Vaughn Brasseaux blocked a punt which was recovered by Luke West for a touchdown, then one possession later Brasseaux forced a fumble recovered by Ryan Sarver for another touchdown.

Bunting added one more rushing touchdown to round out the scoring, tying their second highest point-total this season. Bunting ended with 161 yards rushing on the ground with a pair of touchdowns, with Jansen adding 83 more on the ground with another score. The Storm improve to 4-3 overall, and 3-2 in the conference, and will travel to Dubuque next Saturday to take on the Spartans.
