The Central College football team hosts Loras this afternoon, having taken advantage of the bye week to get two weeks of preparation for the Duhawks.
Two years ago, Loras won the highest scoring game in Central history, 55-48, and the Dutch responded with a 42-34 shootout victory last year.
That’s 89 points out of the Duhawk offense the last two seasons against the Dutch, and Central coach Jeff McMartin says that they’re potent again this year.
“Their coaching staff does a great job as far as the system that they run. It’s kind of an up-tempo, fast paced, get the ball out of the quarterbacks hands quickly. They don’t take a lot of sacks and they don’t take a lot of lost yardage. They have a big physical running back. They have a big physical offensive line. It might be the biggest offensive line we’ve faced this year, at least guard to guard it is. And they have big tall wide receivers who go up and get the ball well and who are very competitive. They make it a challenge for people.”
Today’s game between Central and Loras starts at 1:00 at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. Join Trevor Castle, Don DeWaard and Harry Smith for the play-by-play on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 12:35.
