Simpson Football had two separate leads the in the first half, but it was not enough to contain rival Central Saturday afternoon, as the Dutch took down the Storm 35-17.

The first quarter started with fireworks, with each team scoring a pair of touchdowns to end tied at 14. Action then began to slow down, as the teams traded turnovers in the second, with the Dutch taking advantage of a Simpson interception to take a 21-14 lead into halftime. The Storm managed to kick a 42 yard field goal off the leg of kicker Drew Jensen to cut the lead to four, then had the ball at the 1 yard line but could not score to take the lead with two opportunities to rush it in.

Central then drove down 99 yards and scored on the back of freshman quarterback Blain Hawkins, as he scored a of rushing touchdown to seal the game, while adding another later on. Hawkins passed for 219 yards and rushed for 107, and Sam Markham had 175 yards receiving with a touchdown.

Simpson quarterback Sam Sasso threw for 213 yards, with 97 and a score of that total going towards Ricky Reeve. The Dutch are now 3-2 overall, and 2-1 in Iowa Conference action and next play , while the Storm fall to 2-3 and 1-2.
