Central College will continue the fall 2017 Faculty Lecture Series with a presentation by Associate Professor of Economics Jessica Schuring.

Her lecture titled “Water’s Paradox: The Low Cost of a Valuable Resource” takes place this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Boat and Moore rooms of Maytag Student Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Schuring, whose areas of expertise include environmental and developmental economics, will delve into the economics of the water. Experts note that if the price of water correlated to how heavily it is used, it would cost much more than it actually does. Schuring will further explore this concept.

Her lecture is one of various ways Central has focused on the topic of global water sustainability. Schuring’s lecture is the second in the Faculty Lecture Series, with the third taking place Monday, Nov. 27.
