On a blustery day on the hill, the Central College women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Loras, while the men fell 2-1.

The women’s match was for the league championship, with Central needing a victory to tie the Duhawks at the top of the table. The draw gave Loras the title with a 6-0-2 record and 20 points, while Central finishes second at 5-1-2 with 17 points.

Erin Manion put the Dutch out in front 1-0 on a goal less than four minutes in, and freshman keeper Taylor Golt’s career-high six saves kept Central in front until the very end. The Duhawks scored in the 82nd minute, and neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of regulation or either overtime period.

The Dutch will be either the second or third seed for the league tournament, which starts this weekend.

Central’s men needed to beat Loras to get into the IIAC tourney, but the loss leaves them in seventh place with a mark of 3-5.

The Duhawks scored twice in the first half, and Salvador Villanueva’s sixth goal of the season early in the second half wasn’t enough for Central in what turned out to be their season finale.
