Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling has been involved in education for over two decades.

Named the Iowa Superintendent of the Year, Ebeling was humbled to receive the honor after he was selected by his peers for the award. Ebeling tells KNIA/KRLS News the key for him in K-12 education is ensuring those who graduate have the tools to be successful in all aspects of their lives.

“It’s really about how we help kids move on to their life from school, and how they do life when they leave us is important, ” Ebeling says. “Some of that is a career, some of that is personally–related to their own life balance and family and those things, and how they make decisions and think about tough things they have to face, and so in the end, it’s how we help kids transition from school to life.”

While he says success in academics and extracurriculars is important, he’s driven by ensuring every student that comes to the Pella School District is set up to be a productive member of society for their rest of their lives.

Ebeling says Pella is his last destination as an administrator, and looks forward to continuing the mission of the district over the next several years. Hear more about the Superintendent of the Year on this week’s Let’s Talk Pella segment, posted below:
