The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.

The council approved a one year lease agreement between the City of Knoxville and Paws and Pals Dog Park. They decided to wait another year before pursuing another community survey with ETC Institute due to the relevance of the current survey which was done in 2014. Due to maintenance issues with the current city street sweeper, the city approved the purchase of a new street sweeper for no more than $137,000 to replace the current one. They also approved a change order for the Montgomery Street Sewer Replacement Project after an unforeseen storm pipe realignment was needed for the project. The council heard an update from City Manager Aaron Adams about the Youngs Park Master Plan in which the city will hold a public hearing in November to potentially vote on the sale of bonds for the project along with the airport, streets and library expansion. The council approved the use of Fire Department Memorial Funds to be used to purchase fire prevention material that will be provided to children for fire prevention week.
