Knoxville’s defense stepped up when it mattered the most last night as the Panthers held off Bondurant-Farrar 20-14 in a game heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers got the scoring first with a Jacob Zuck to Rylan Cox 18 yard touchdown play that established a new school record for touchdown throws in a season for Zuck with his 14th. Bondurant would equalize it with a score later in the first quarter and even surge ahead 14-7 in the second quarter before Knoxville’s Hunter Ohannessian raced 88 yards on the ensuing score to make it 14-13 at the half. The Panthers would pitch a shutout in the second half and get the game winner on a Zuck 35 yard scamper in the end zone. While the offense was not its explosive self, Coach Eric Kellar was quick to credit the defense for preserving the win. Zuck was again the offensive leader for the Panthers rushing 22 times for 99 yards and a touchdown and was 4/12 for 47 yards and a score. Knoxville is now 4-4 on the season and will welcome Grinnell next week to close out the season with a chance to finish above 500 with a win.
