Marching Bands to Wrap Up Competition Season Saturday

Local marching bands wrap up the competition season this weekend in Pella and Ankeny.

PCM, North Mahaska, Knoxville, and the Marching Dutch will all participate in the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Marching Band Contest Saturday at Pella High School. The Warhawks band begins the day at 9:15 in 1A and PCM will compete at 9:30 in 2A. Knoxville will march at 1:40, with Pella ending the competition at 2:10.

Following the state contest, Knoxville, PCM, and Pella will all participate in the Mid Iowa Band Championship in Ankeny in the evening, with the Mustangs starting at 5:15, Knoxville performing at 6:30, and Pella rounding out the 3A schools at 8:15 p.m. The Marching Dutch were the highest scoring band in Ankeny last year, with an 87-point performance.
