Trailing by 14 points at two separate points in the game, the Simpson Storm football team came roaring back and scored with 1:12 left in the game to force overtime at Dubuque, but a missed extra point in OT would be the difference as the Storm fell to the Spartans 28-27.

Simpson threw three interceptions in Dubuque territory in the first half and trailed 14-0 at the break, before finally getting on the board with a Austin Hronich receiving touchdown in the third. The Spartans answered right back and entered the fourth quarter up 21-7. Simpson scored on a Cam Bunting rushing touchdown, then had several defensive stops as the teams traded possessions late in the fourth.

A two minute drill drive gave the Storm the tying touchdown on another Bunting TD to force overtime. Dubuque scored on the first possession of overtime, then as Simpson answered on their turn with a Ricky Reeve touchdown, Drew Jensen missed an extra point that would have continued the game. The Storm outgained the Spartans 543-420, but had four turnovers to the Spartans zero. Simpson falls to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play, and will host Buena Vista in their home finale next Saturday.
