Pella Christian was able to get into the championship bracket while Knoxville won the consolation bracket at the Panthers Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles swept through pool play at 3-0 with victories over Albia, Perry, and a three set match against A-D-M while Knoxville took care of Saydel, and fell to Union and eventual champions Iowa Falls. In the championship bracket Pella Christian’s day would end against Iowa Falls in two games, while Knoxville swept through the consolation bracket over Albia and Perry to finish the day at 3-2. For Knoxville on the day Cassidy Pearson came up with 47 digs which put her in the Panther record books with the most singles season digs. She currently has 426 which breaks the old mark set by Beth Ripperger who had 403. Also for the Panthers, Katie Keitges was 43/43 serving on the day with nine aces and 23 kills, Kayla Moats had 24 assists…and Marley McKay had 23 assists. For Pella Christian Bekah Horstman had 36 kills, Danielle Vande Voort had 12 blocks, and Emma Huisman had 31 digs and 70 assists. Knoxville will host Winterset in its final regular season match on Monday while Pella Christian will take on Colfax-Mingo Tuesday night in the first round of the class 2A regional.
