With their 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-15) sweep of Oskaloosa last night in front of the home crowd, defending Little Hawkeye Conference champion Pella improved to 6-0 in league play and has clinched at least a share of the 2017 title.

It was senior night at Pella High, and Coach Catie Brand says that it was nice to honor the six seniors who have given so much to the program.

“They were in support roles last year as juniors, and this year they’ve really invested whole heartedly in this team and the direction we’re going. They took on new position, new leadership, and they’ve just done an outstanding job leading us. Our girls that were able to come in tonight, that was really honoring to them, because they’ve put in all the same time and all the same heart and attitude, so to get them on the floor tonight was just a huge blessing to us as well.”

The six seniors are Paighton Bogaards, Cecily Johnson, Kara Wichhart, Rebecca Dux, Bronwyn Metcalf and Pauline Lopez.

With last night’s win, Pella is 24-3 overall. They’ll host their own tournament Saturday, wrap up Little Hawkeye Conference regular season play next Tuesday at Dallas Center-Grimes, then head to Norwalk for the conference tournament on Thursday, October 12th.
