Superintendent of the Pella Community School District Greg Ebeling has been named the 2017-18 Iowa Superintendent of the Year by the School Administrators of Iowa.
President of the Pella School Board Joan Corbin tells KNIA/KRLS News she was on the board that hired Ebeling in 2011, and says that he is more than well-deserving of the honor.
“He is so well respected by his peers throughout the state, and he is such a fantastic instructional leader,” she says. “So I’m not surprised, but very thrilled him, and very happy that he received this award and it’s a great fit for him.”
Ebeling is humbled to receive the award, and accepted the honor on behalf of all of the students, staff members and parents of the Pella Community School District.
“So many people work hard everyday to make our district a great place for students to learn. We are blessed to have people who go above and beyond in their efforts with students. This award is really a reflection of the work they do every day,” Ebeling expressed.
He was nominated by his peers and selected for the award by a committee of Iowa superintendents. Administrator of the Year recipients will be honored at a governor’s awards ceremony in late spring and the state’s annual conference next August. He will also represent Iowa in the National Superintendent of the Year Program sponsored by the School Superintendents Association.
