Local residents are invited to raise awareness about abolishing slavery as part of an international event.

The Central College Students Against Human Trafficking group is hosting the Pella Walk for Freedom Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Tulip Toren. Monica Powers and Emily Van Gent with the organization tell KNIA/KRLS News that those who attend aim to give a voice to those who are trapped in slavery and trafficking around the globe. The event is a collective effort led by A21, a global anti-human trafficking organization that works to shine a global spotlight and to raise funds to help rescue, restore, and rebuild lives.
