The Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 2nd to discuss a proposed bypass route for Highway 63 in Mahaska County.

The meeting, which includes both an open forum and formal hearing, takes place between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Oskaloosa Middle School Commons. The purpose is to gather public feedback on the environmental documentation, bypass route preferred alternative, and potential impacts pertaining to planned highway improvements. The environmental assessment is now complete and will be available for review during the public hearing, which also outlines how various routes would impact the potential Regional Airport project.

According to the Iowa DOT, the project includes rerouting Highway 63 west of Oskaloosa on Highway 163, and then diverting back to the current route south of New Sharon.

The meeting space is accessible for persons with disabilities. If you require special accommodations at the meeting, please notify the Iowa DOT contact listed below by Monday, Oct. 30.
