Here’s what happened with the rest of the Central College sports teams on Saturday…

The defending Iowa Conference champion women’s golf team roared to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway point of the conference tournament. The Dutch were third after the first round Friday, but shot past both Wartburg and Luther Saturday. Central sits at 645, with the Knights at 647 and the Norse at 651. The final two rounds will be played this weekend in Indianola.

The women’s tennis team picked up a pair of league victories, 9-0 over Nebraska Wesleyan and 8-1 over Buena Vista, to improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the IIAC.

Erin Manion scored a pair of goals as the Central women’s soccer team beat Wartburg 3-2 to move to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Iowa Conference.

It was déjà vu for the men’s soccer team, which suffered a 2-1 loss to Wartburg. The Dutch are 0-2 in the Iowa Conference (7-2 overall) and both losses have come on a penalty kick in overtime.

Central’s volleyball team fell to Dubuque 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-21). They are 8-11 on the season and 1-3 in league play.

In cross-country, Mark Fairley placed third individually to lead the Dutch men to a fifth-place finish at the Dan Huston Invitational in Waverly. The women used a balanced effort to take fourth, with Holly McKinney taking 11th.
