A soggy Saturday provided much needed drought relief throughout the region.

Countywide, an additional ½ to 1” fell throughout the day, with higher amounts locally.

As of 5 p.m. Saturday:
Knoxville at KNIA/KRLS – .7”
Pella at KNIA/KRLS – .8”
North Main Street Pella – 1.2”
Lake Red Rock – .8”
Cedar Creek near Bussey – 1.4”

Since October 1st:
Pella – 2.32″
Knoxville – 2.62″
Lake Red Rock – 2.4”
Cedar Creek – 5.74″

Roughly 3-4″ of rain was recorded from July 1st through September 30th in Pella, according to local rainfall data.

In the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report, extreme drought in Marion County was downgraded to severe. According to the National Weather Service, dry air will take over for the rest of the week, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s and low 70s through the weekend.
