RACOM has announced the expansion of an emergency communications tower southeast of Pella.

Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky tells KNIA/KRLS News the ability for departments to communicate with one another is crucial in emergency situations. Bokinsky says the new tower upgrade, as well as the new tower near the Marion County Law Enforcement Center under the State System, will provide better radio coverage throughout the region. According to RACOM, coverage from the tower on the southeast side of Pella will boost the signal reception for Pella’s first responders as well as those in Marion, Mahaska and Jasper Counties.

The network upgrade should be in place by the end of the year.
