Pella Christian led 53-0 with less than three minutes gone by in the third quarter, and defeated Sigourney-Keota 53-21 last night in the first round of the class 1A playoffs in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Eagles used great defense and special teams to give the offense good field position, and they took advantage in a big way, with Noah Treimer leading the way.

The junior tailback racked up 301 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns. Coach Rich Kacmarynski says that it was fun to watch him put on a show.

“He’s so explosive when he gets into the open field. There were several times where you could just see the waves part just a little bit, and then bam, they weren’t going to catch him. But I’ll also say this, our receiving corps has been blocking their tails off.”

Kyle Fynaardt added two rushing touchdowns for Pella Christian and Hayden Vroom had the Eagles’ other score.

Pella Christian is 10-0 on the season, and will host Pleasantville next Friday night in the class 1A quarterfinals.
