Hayden Vroom’s 274 rushing yards and five touchdowns – in the first half – led the Pella Christian football team to a 56-20 victory over Central Decatur in a game heard live last night on our KRLS2 stream at www.kniakrls.com.

Vroom had touchdown runs of 49, 67, 39, 71 and 1 yard, and he threw a 9 yard touchdown pass to Jayden Huisman.

Coach Rich Karmarynski says that while dynamic tailback Noah Treimer was held in check, Vroom stepped up big to lead the way.

“They were loading the box up. They played a seven-man box against our one back set and they played man-to-man against our dynamic receivers, which we’d call cover zero. They were really kind of bottling up Noah Treimer, and that was unfortunate for Noah but he’s a team player and he was very happy for Hayden. They just couldn’t account for him in the run game.”

Treimer did have a touchdown on special teams, a 99-yard kickoff return. The Eagles other score was a 39-yard burst by Dan Jungling.

Pella Christian is now 8-0, 6-0 in district play, and has clinched a playoff berth. They’ll plat at Woodward Granger for the 1-A district 5 championship next Friday night.
