The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The board approved the appointment of Samuel Pitt and Seth Norton as Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies. They approved a liquor license renewal for the Red Rock Quick Stop as well as approved the appointment of the Mark Raymie to the Marion County Opioid Task Force. The board held a public hearing to discuss the transfer of Marion County property located at 314 east Robinson Street in Knoxville to the Baty Tucker Post 168 of the American Legion. The board approved the recommendation from County Attorney Ed Bull to eliminate future book purchases for the Marion County Law Library due to lack of usage, which could save between $12,000 to $17,000 per year. They decided to combine the buildings at the Marion County Care Facility and the adjacent farm land for sale purposes. The board discussed a property nuisance abatement for 1352 92nd Avenue in Knoxville and initiated the abatement process and advertising for bids. They held a discussion regarding the definition of “dwelling” pertaining to county ordinances and agreed to have individual discussions with County Attorney Ed Bull regarding possible future action.
