Central College’s hall of fame softball coach George Wares is the new Midwest Region representative to the NCAA Division III Softball Committee.
Wares was appointed to a three-year term. The committee administers the softball championships, overseeing regional rankings, selecting the 63-team tournament field, determining pairings and conducting the tournament games.
He previously spent three years as a member of the Midwest Region Advisory Committee, which he now chairs.
The winningest softball coach in NCAA Division III history, Wares has compiled a 1096-372-3 (.746) record over 33 seasons, including a 92-56 postseason mark.
