An anhydrous leak was reported near Harvey Tuesday evening at approximately 8 p.m.

A farmer was reportedly applying anhydrous to a field west of 216th place when the tank became disconnected from the farm implement. When the disconnection occurred a hose broke causing an anhydrous leak. A vehicle traveling south on 216th place drove through the cloud caused by wind blowing the leak eastward. The driver of the vehicle started to have a hard time breathing and was forced to stop the vehicle off the roadway. The driver was transported to Pella Regional Health Center to be checked out. Agriland was able to turn the tank off without incident. There was a residence directly east of the leak and three occupants were also checked out by EMS. Chief of the Clay Township Fire Department Brice Loonan tells KNIA/KRLS News the leak was contained quickly and only a small amount was leaked due to the quick thinking of the operator. Chief Loonan says the incident was a minor incident and he wants to thank all the first responders. Clay Township Fire Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Pella Ambulance, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion County Emergency Management responded to the scene.
