A pivotal week two switch in the Pella Christian lineup transformed their good football team into a state title contender in the 2017 season.

Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the biggest shift of the year was moving Hayden Vroom from speedy wideout to signal caller, not only for how the senior performed, but for the impact it had on one other key playmaker.

“As the season wore on, I think you saw Hayden get more and more comfortable at the quarterback spot, and equally important was that Noah Treimer got more and more comfortable at the running back position. Now you’ve got a one-two punch in our backfield that I think anybody in the state would like to have.”

Both Vroom and Treimer formed one of the state’s most formidable duos — scoring 292 of the team’s best in 1A 548 points, and combining for 3,182 yards from scrimmage–not counting the 1,501 combined as passers.

Pella Christian finished their best season in program history with an 11-1 record and their first ever trip to the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
