The Pella City Council approved a change order to the Reverse Osmosis Treatment Plant construction contract, a final plat for Fairway Meadows at Bos Landen for Vermeer Development, and conditional support for a new subdivision on T-15 for Bos Ridge, LLC, that could bring over 40 new homes to the community in the next ten years at their meeting last night.

They discussed how they will work to provide reverse tax increment financing for the Bos Ridge project, which would see the developer complete infrastructure and pay for the changes up front, with the city paying a rebate once land becomes occupied.

The Pella City Council discussed a feasibility study for a potential municipal telecommunications utility at policy and planning following regular business at their meeting Tuesday. City staff cited the need for a municipal telecommunications utility is being driven by concerns expressed by citizens and businesses regarding access to high speed internet, including cost and service levels. A request for proposal will be issued on November 27th, with the results of a final study complete sometime in the late spring of 2018. The council expressed their desire to work with the PACE Alliance as they proceed through the process of exploring a telecommunications utility.
