The Pleasantville Trojan boys and girls basketball teams both enjoyed blowout victories last night at home against the Saints of Melcher-Dallas with the boys winning 76-45 and the girls 57-15.

The shots from outside the arc were in the Trojans favor on the boys side, with Pleasantville making a total of 8 while holding the Saints to just 1 on the game. Owen Worthington had a breakout game, scoring 20 points leading five total Trojan players who hit double figures on the night. Melcher-Dallas was led by a 13 point night from Ryan Krpan.

On the girls side, a slow start offensively didn’t harm the Trojans as they heated up in the second and third quarters to build their big lead. Eleven separate Pleasantville players scored on the night led by Kelsee Van Haalen dropping 23 points and Josie Hutchings scored 7. Head Coach Aaron Fichter told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the effort defensively opened up opportunities on the offensive side. Melcher-Dallas had Emilie Krpan score 6 points to lead the team.

The Trojan girls improve to 1-1 and the boys to 1-0, and both teams will start Pride of Iowa Conference play at home against Wayne. The Melcher-Dallas girls fall to 0-2 and the boys to 0-1, and both squads will host Orient-Macksburg on Friday.
