A Republican Candidate for Governor made a stop in Pella Monday.

Steven Ray visited the Pella Pizza Ranch and met with locals ahead of the June primary.

Ray tells KNIA/KRLS News he’s presenting himself as an alternative to the status quo of Iowa’s government for the last 30 years.

“If you are satisfied and what things to continue the way that they have been for basically the last 30 years, then I’m probably not your candidate, but if you want someone that can come in there and take a second look at things, use their experience in government over the years, and I believe I have the unique personality that has the ability to get along with everybody, and I’m willing to work with Democrats to try and find solutions for Iowans.”

“I tell everybody on my website the only agenda I bring to the table is what I want to do to better the lives of Iowans.”

Ray lives in Boone, and has worked in 911 communications since 1988. He is running against incumbent Kim Reynolds and former Cedar Rapids mayor Ron Corbett for governor in the upcoming June Republican primary.
