The Dordt College Defenders have picked up one of the most dynamic players in Iowa High School football history and another Pella standout athlete.

After announcing he was leaving the Iowa Hawkeyes just over a week ago, Pella alum Noah Clayberg will join familiar faces at Dordt in Sioux Center. Head Coach Joel Penner made the announcement on Twitter late Friday from the Clayberg and Kacmarynski Christmas party.

He joins a roster with two other standouts from the Tulip City — including Class of 2016 graduates David Kacmarynski and Levi Jungling, formerly of the crosstown Pella Christian Eagles, who each played a significant, starting role on the 2017 Dordt football team this past fall.

Clayberg was a grayshirt at Iowa after graduating from Pella in 2015, forgoing enrollment his first semester of academics to join the team the following spring. He primarily played special teams as a Hawkeye this fall, but expressed his desire to the Des Moines Register in his announcement to transfer that he wanted to play on offense.

Clayberg led the Pella Dutch to two state championships as an all-state quarterback, and passed for 3,654 yards and 40 touchdowns and rushed for 4,754 yards and 72 touchdowns in his career.
