Indianola pulled away early from the Pella Christian girls basketball team to win 49-29 last night, while the boys withstood a third quarter Eagle barrage and rallied for a 50-43 victory.

Leading 7-6 late in the first quarter, the Indian girls finished the frame on a 10-0 run, and never relinquished control. Maggie McGraw dropped in 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Grace Berg added 12 points.

For Pella Christian, Morgan Fopma had nine points and 10 boards. The Eagles drop to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.

The Indianola boys rode the hot hand of Evan Gauger to build a 30-21 lead midway through the third quarter before Pella Christian rallied. A pair three-point plays by Alex Huisman, plus three-point shots by Dan Jungling, Jake Pringle and Jack Vermeer were part of a 15-0 run by the Eagles to close the quarter and take a six-point lead.

But the Indians scored the first seven points of the fourth to reclaim the lead, and after a back-and-forth period in the middle of the quarter, Indianola pulled away at the free throw line for the win.

Alex Huisman scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Pella Christian, while Indianola got 23 from Gauger and 20 from Quinn Vesey.

The Eagles fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in the LHC. While the girls are off until after Christmas break, the Pella Christian boys will play tomorrow night against Ballard.
