In recent games, and likely more when the season resumes in January, the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will see a lot of “junk” defenses like box-and-one, triangle-and-two, and other defenses to stop one player. That one player that teams are trying to stop is Katie Keitges. The Panther sophomore is the leading scorer at over 20 points per game and has already had two games of 30 or more points this season. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they likely are not going to get teams to quit using junk defenses, but his players are being taught to recognize the situation. Knoxville returns to action on January fifth against Albia.
