Knoxville came away with a split in its double header with Eddyville-Blakesburg last night as the girls won a hard fought 51-44 decision while the Rockets broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to win 75-53 in a broadcast heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The girls had several bouts of adversity throughout the first half, but defensive plays in the second quarter allowed Knoxville to stay in it and set up the Panthers to outscore E-B-F 33-25 in the second half after trailing at the half 19-18. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports the first half plays kept his team in it and allowed them to make winning plays in the second half. Katie Keitges led the way with 20 points while Maggie Wilkins scored 16 points. Cassidy Pearson was credited with several defensive plays in both halves to help the Panthers out. Knoxville is now 6-2 on the season and 4-1 in the South Central Conference. Eddyville-Blakesburg broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to win 75-53 over Knoxville in the boys contest. The Rockets held a lead of eight-to-ten points most of the way, but Knoxville trimmed it down to two at the end of three quarters 49-47, but the Rockets outscored the Panthers 26-6 in the final eight minutes. Tyler Vaske scored 17 points to lead Knoxville who drops to 3-3 on the season and 4-1 in the South Central Conference. The boys host P-C-M tonight.
