Early season South Central Conference supremacy is on the line tonight for both Knoxville and Chariton basketball squads in the Charger Dome. For the girls, Chariton is 3-0 in the conference with Knoxville just a game behind at 2-0 coming off a 16 point victory over Clarke on Tuesday. Knoxville’s Katie Keitges and Maggie Wilkins have proven to be very good around different full court press looks that opposing team have given the Panthers. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is confident both Keitges and Wilkins can handle most presses, especially when it ramps up a bit tonight against Chariton. The Knoxville boys have the opportunity to give the Chargers an early season hole to dig out of as Chariton comes in at 2-1 in conference play after an eyebrow raising loss to Albia on Tuesday. Knoxville is 2-0 and hopes to keep pace with league leader Eddyville-Blakesburg. The Panthers hit on all cylinders in their 91-50 drubbing of Clarke on Tuesday. You can hear the action on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA and kniakrls.com starting with the pregame with Derek Cardwell and John Keitges at 6:15.
