A Knoxville man was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole a checkbook from his dad and wrote bad checks at Walmart in Pella.

Ryan Mitchell, 31, was arrested following an investigation into incidents which occurred between October 30th and November 15th. According to court documents on November 21st the victim came to the Knoxville Police Department to report several stolen and forged checks that had been written from his account to the Walmart in Pella. The victim told police he believed the checks had been forged by his son Ryan Mitchell because he found a book of his checks in Mitchell’s bedroom. Law enforcement officers were able to obtain the surveillance videos which identified Mitchell forging the the checks. Total amount of the checks written was $646.07. Mitchell is charged with five counts of forgery a class D felony and theft 5th degree.
