The Knoxville Public Library has announced when they will be making the move to the former East Elementary building, where they will be housed during the library’s expansion construction.

Director of the library Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News the library will be closed the last two weeks in February starting on the 19th. Thompson says the move is going to be a big move with lots of things needing to go. She thanks the volunteers who have already said they will help with the move and says the library continues to look for more volunteers. Construction on the expansion project is expected to begin in March and could last as long as fifteen months. When completed, the new 15,000 square feet building will include community rooms, a teen area, a drive-through drop box, a bigger genealogy room, and study rooms.
