The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.
The meeting began with Business Manager Craig Mobley being recognized as a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations. The board received a technology presentation from Technology Director Barry Smith about the state of the district’s technology infrastructure and needs. They approved waivers for Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. regarding the tennis courts project and East Elementary due to a conflict of interest in which Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. also does work for the City of Knoxville. They approved a three year financial audit bid proposal from Nolte, Cornman, & Johnson, P.C. as well as reviewed the At Risk/Dropout Service Academic Assistance Program for 2018-2019. The board approved a student staff request for a classroom catering process in which families can order treats for their child’s classroom. They approved a raise in the school lunch price from $2.60 to $2.85, which matches the price of lunches with other area districts. The board gave preliminary approval for a student program request for a high school choir out of state trip to New York City in March of 2019 as well as a Love Your Library Fundraiser for students to help collect money for the Knoxville Public Library Expansion Project. They approved a Knoxville Middle School TAG fundraiser request to help raise funds for dance decorations. The board held the first reading of policy recommendations for both the 200 and 300 series policies. They reviewed the first draft of the 2018-2019 Academic Calendar as well as set a public hearing date for January 8th, 2018 to discuss the final calendar.
