The Pella Christian boys basketball team played what coach Larry Hessing called its best game of the season in the final contest before Christmas, knocking off Ballard last Thursday.

The Eagles jumped out to a big first half lead and held on for a 69-55 win, which Hessing hopes to build on over the break and into 2018.

“We just hadn’t kind of pulled it all together so-to-speak, but we’re not stopping here. This is just another stepping stone, and we’re hoping to get better. We know the competition is going to be good moving forward in the Little Hawkeye Conference, but that’s going to make us better and we’re looking forward to that.”

The Eagles are 2-6 on the season, and off to an 0-4 start in the LHC. They have until January fifth to get ready for their next contest against Grinnell.
