It was a split affair at Norwalk High School between the Warriors and Pella High in last night’s Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader heard live on
The night started off in interesting fashion, as the P.A. system did not play the National Anthem, so the big crowd in attendance decided to help a cappella-style.
In the girls’ contest, Emily Holterhaus dumped in 18 of her 20 points in the second half of a 59 – 46 Lady Dutch victory. Coach Jerod Garland says his guards were able to take better advantage of defensive collapses on lane penetration in the second half, which led to the junior’s outburst.
The Lady Dutch improve to 5 – 3 overall and 2 – 2 in league play.
Norwalk’s boys held control most of the game in their 72 – 53 win over the Little Dutch. Pella’s Ryan Gustafson and Norwalk’s Luke Vaske each scored 25 points apiece to lead their team. The Little Dutch drop to 5 – 2 overall, and 3 – 1 in the conference. Pella will conclude their 2017 schedule tomorrow night in Adel versus A-D-M.
