Pella’s basketball teams step out of the conference tonight for a trip to Fairfield, each looking to keep winning streaks alive.

The Lady Dutch have won back-to-back games to get to 3-2 on the season, but coach Jerod Garland says they’ll have their hands full tonight with a Trojan team that is 6-0 and ranked tenth in class 4A.

“They have a phenomenal guard, a 1,000-point scorer who’s a really really strong player. But they lost a couple other kids. They play a little hectic defensive style, so we might match each other pretty well there. It’ll be a chaotic game, and it’s a long bus ride for us, so you always need to overcome that.”

The boys game will feature the 4-0 Little Dutch against a 1-3 Fairfield team that got its first win of the season Friday night against Washington.

Opening tip of the girl / boy doubleheader is tonight at 6:15 in Fairfield. Andrew Schneider and Roger DeWaard will have the play-by-play on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 6:00.
