The Pleasantville Trojan basketball teams split their road trip to Corning last night, as the Trojan girls fell to Southwest Valley in a heartbreaker 49-47, while the boys pulled away on a late run to blow out the Timberwolves 59-40.

The girls had an 18-14 lead at halftime and a 30-26 lead at the end of three, but both teams started to heat up on offense in the final quarter. The Timberwolves hit shots down the stretch, to break the Trojans three game winning streak despite 11 points each from Kelsee Van Haalen and Jordan Dursky, and Madyson Thill had 10.

On the boys side, the Trojans dominated from start to finish with a very balanced scoreboard yet again, with a 27-22 lead at half, and outscoring Southwest Valley 20-7 in the final period to secure the victory. Grant Fouch led the Trojans with 15 points, while Kyle Amendt had 12.

The Trojan girls fall to 3-2, and the boys improve to 4-0, and both teams will host Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Tuesday.
