Pella’s basketball teams continue their road trip tonight with a visit to Norwalk, and a top-10 boys showdown highlights the action.

The Warriors are 7-0 and ranked second in the Associated Press poll, while the sixth-ranked Little Dutch are 5-1.

Both teams are 3-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, tied with Oskaloosa for first place in the league. Pella coach Derek Schulte says that if his team is to stay undefeated in the LHC after tonight, they’re going to need to slow down a potent Norwalk offense.

“They’ve got a lot of guys on the floor who can both shoot it and finish it at the rim, plus they have some size inside. They present multiple challenges, and the biggest thing is that we have to come ready to compete for 32 minutes. It’s going to be a battle, we have to try to win small sections of the game, build some confidence, and let’s try to get into a four-minute game at the end and see what happens.”

In the girls game tonight, it’ll be 12th-ranked 5-2 Pella against a 3-5 Norwalk squad looking for its first conference win of the season.

Tonight’s twinbill starts at 6:15, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:00 on our KRLS2 stream at www.kniakrls.com. Cory Houser and Roger DeWaard will have the play-by-play.
