Another Tulip City football player is headed to Dordt to play for the Defenders.

Lucas Warner, a senior at Pella High School, was announced as one of ten recruits to commit during last week’s signing period.

He was a three-year varsity letter winner for the Little Dutch, playing on two state championship teams and earning all-state honors in his junior and senior seasons.

Warner was Pella’s second leading tackler this past season, racking up 63 stops, including 10 for a loss and two sacks. He returned an interception for a touchdown and caught nine passes on offense for 103 yards and three scores.

His signing brings to five the number of Pella players who will be on Dordt’s roster next fall. Pella Christian alum Holden Hooyer, David Kacmarynski and Levi Jungling played for the Defenders this fall, while Pella’s Noah Clayberg announced his intentions to transfer to Dordt over the weekend.
