Wartburg’s ranked basketball teams swept Central College last night in Waverly.

In a rematch of last year’s Iowa Conference championship game, the 18th-ranked Wartburg men beat Central 80-65. The Knights built a 19-point lead early in the second half, and while the Dutch trimmed it to nine with a 10-0 run, Wartburg held a double-digit lead the rest of the game.

Seth Wood’s 21 points paced Central and Malik Wildermuth added 12. The Dutch drop to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in IIAC play.

The Dutch women were routed by the second-ranked Knights, 86-44. Wartburg jumped out to a 20-3 lead after one quarter and held Central to just 26-percent shooting for the night.

Emily Dine was the only double-digit scorer for the Dutch with 16 points. They’re now 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the Iowa Conference.
