While a lot of snow didn’t fall over south central Iowa, a mix of rain, sleet, and wet snowfall caused slick roadways throughout the area Thursday.

Many communities in Marion County saw approximately an inch of snow, with a coating of sleet and ice as well, when a strong cold front pushed through the state in the morning hours. Much colder conditions are in the forecast through early next week, as overnight lows will hover around zero and wind chills well below zero are possible in the evening and morning hours.
