A Des Moines man was arrested Saturday after being served with a warrant at a hotel in Knoxville.

According to court documents, 41-year-old Joshua Mitchell was arrested for an outstanding warrant and upon removal from the hotel, dropped a piece of paper on the floor which contained a crystalline substance later identified to be one gram of methamphetamine. A search warrant was obtained for the hotel room which uncovered 110.7 grams of green plant material which tested positive for marijuana, as well as nine pills of oxycodone under the mattress in which Mitchell was laying. A container near the bed was located and contained a digital scale, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, hypodermic syringes, and a spoon with residue on it. A container was also found under a pillow and contained $1115 in cash. Mitchell was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and controlled substance violation, both class D felonies, and possession of a controlled substance 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor.
